Band of the Moment: New Tomorrow

For our very first band of the moment, we chose to put the spotlight on the amazing band, New Tomorrow! New Tomorrow is from Bandictionary's hometown of San Luis Obispo, CA and are signed to Skeleton Crew Records, which is the record label of Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance. Take a look at this interview to find out more about this incredibly talented group!

BD: Bandictionary
DD: Danny Derrick

BD: How did the band start?
DD: The band started in 2003. It was the result of two local bands breaking up and forming New Tomorrow. There have been a bunch of lineup changes over the years.

BD: Describe your sound in three words.
DD: To the point.

BD: How has your experience on Skeleton Crew Records been so far?
DD: It's been really good for us as a band to have someone so accomplished backing us. It has opened doors that we could have never done on our own.

BD: What is the best part about being in a band?
DD: Touring, for sure. Seeing new places and people every day. Sometimes for months in a row, just checking out new shit and having an overall great time.

BD: What do you think makes your band unique, something you have to offer that no other band does?
DD: I guess our live show is supposed to be pretty entertaining and high energy. Not that other bands don't offer that, it just seems to be more rare.

BD: If you weren't in the band, what would you be doing?
DD: Personally, I would focus more time on my dayjob of tattooing and painting. Probably write by myself for a while. We would all be doing something with music still regardless of being in New Tomorrow or not. Kevin also plays in a band called PK who are amazing, check 'em out. Wood also sings for a band out of SF called Why I Hate. I play in another band as well called Fighting Chance. So we are all keeping very busy.

BD: What five albums have influenced you the most?
DD: Kid Dynamite - Shorter, Faster, Louder, Rise Against - Revolutions Per Minute, Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come, AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset, A Wilhelm Scream - Career Suicide.

BD: Who would be in your ultimate music supergroup?
DD: It's already happened. The Damned Things, check 'em out.

BD: What is your ultimate goal that you'd like to achieve as a band?
DD: To be able to maintain the band and keep writing music and playing shows. What more could anyone ask for?

BD: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?
DD: Nothing. The world perfectly suits us. We've been adapting to it for millions of years.
